The cost of new games for Nintendo’s Wii U console has been confirmed to the folks over at Kotaku. As predicted earlier today, new games will sport a suggested retail price of $59.99, officially joining Microsoft and Sony’s new game price level. The ceiling’s been raised. Let’s hope we keep it at sixty at least through the next generation. As you may know, the Wii’s games usually topped out at $49.99.

A post on the Verge also reveals that the Wii U Pro controller—the one that looks like an Xbox 360 controller…

…will run $49.99, again apparently confirmed by Nintendo itself. Not my favorite…I hate paying so much for first-party accessories. But at the end of the day, it’s not an unreasonable price for what appears to be a pretty functional piece of equipment. The image also seems to feature a micro-USB port, meaning that it’ll probably charge via the system (or any other USB-enabled plug) much like the Dual Shock 3 pad, so at least you’ll save money on batteries.
